This project will create conscience about water contamination and damage caused by the excessive use and bad management of plastics through an art exhibition. The project will draw attention to our symbiotic relationship with water elevating the understanding of its function, and fragility by exposing the destruction wreaked by plastics and what we can do about it.
Create a culture of environmental awareness among the populace, encouraging them to adjust their consumption patterns, and drastically reduce the amount of waste. Participate in educational activities. We will demonstrate how small adjustments to our daily routines can make a significant impact.
Four Latinx artists from Northwest Arkansas, collaborate on this project to create 16 original works of art and one art installation. Each artist produces four works, using their skills to produce a collective installation that embodies the exhibition's overall theme.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provide a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future." Transforming our planet" initiative. This Agenda outlines 17 goals to address a global issue and demonstrate the necessary conditions for sustainable development. We opt for "Goal 14", which addresses life in the ocean. The difficulties caused by the overuse of plastics and their eventual disposal in the ocean, which results in the extinction of more than 100,000 animal species annually, be presented in this art exhibition.
Lourdes Valverde was born and raised in Durango, México. While a holder of an Industrial Engineering degree, her passion for artistic expressions has flourished through the years. She has participated in collective and solo exhibits for more than thirty years.
She moved to Arkansas in 2015 and she discovered the blooming artist community in the region. Now, she is a represented artist by ArtVentures Gallery in Fayetteville, and a fellow of Artist INC. She has been the organizer of Bentonville Day of the Dead Festival since 2018 at the Museum of Native American History. She is part of a Mexican artist network in The United States supported by the Mexican Consulate.
Briseida Ochoa (Brioch) is a visual artist, born in the region of El Paso, Texas, USA. border with Cd. Juárez, Chih., México. Brioch uses photography and printmaking as a means to new perspectives and realities with the help of cyanotype and anthotype techniques. Her work focuses on the idea of transcendence and the existence of visual poetic narrative through the human figure, landscapes, scenography, installations, performances, and symbolism. Deploying the interaction of reality, with memories and the fusion of imagination. Her latest works are closely linked to the elements of abstraction, the process of cyanotype, and anthotype.
What's something exciting your business offers? Say it here. David is a Mexican American artist working from his studio in Rogers, Arkansas. He explores the place of humanity in the cosmos and the delineation of meaning and context through lines and shapes. The latter is a recurring theme of his work as he contends with the aggregate of lines, types of fonts, and how biomechanics turn into language or symbols. His immanent inquisition of meaning derives from a longing to understand and be understood.
Born on a Navy base in Maryland, Dexta has lived most of her life in Arkansas although, she frequently travels to Hawaii and Puerto Rico to visit family. She loved art as a child and was influenced by her mother’s love of art and her hometown Museum de Arte de ponce. She is also passionate about writing and is a poet and freelance feature writer for various newspapers and magazines.
